Musical synopsis:
“Play Back Forward” tells the story of an old VHS movie rental store run by the two Lotus Sisters, who are former “Getai” sensations struggling to make ends meet in the 21st century. They are now banking on Jasmine, the daughter of the elder sister, to finish law school and start earning (more than) enough to support the family. But little do they know that the impressionable Jasmine longs to abandon her legal career and the Golden Lotus Video Store for a life like in the movies. What will the Sisters do now?
With a completely original plot, script and score, we’re proud to present a tongue-in-cheek musical with lovable and memorable characters that will make you laugh, swoon and cry (in a good way)!
Cast:
Samantha Shing as Jasmine
Tan Yu Hang as Lorenzo
